Are Lab Grown Diamonds Real Diamonds?

Yes, lab diamonds are indeed “real” diamonds. They also test positive as such with a
diamond tester (as they should). The only difference between them is how they are created,
one is found in nature while the other is man-made. That doesn’t make it any less of a
diamond than a natural.

Think of it like this: An Icicle is 100% water, and so is an ice cube. One is formed in nature and one is formed in a controlled environment in your freezer, but both are 100% water.

Lab-grown diamonds are made using state of the art technology that replicates the exact
process as a natural diamond. As a result, a man-made diamond with the same chemical

How are they made?

Scientists use either High Pressure-High Temperature (HPHT) and Chemical Vapor
Deposition (CVD) to simulate the environmental process that a natural Diamond experiences
in the earth. small diamond seedling is planted in carbon exposed to high temperatures of
1500 degrees Celsius (2732 degrees Fahrenheit) with an applied pressure of 1.5 million
pounds per square inch.

How can you tell the difference between lab created diamonds and natural diamonds?

We know now that labs and naturals are chemically the same. They are also optically the
same, meaning there’s no way to identify the difference between the two. Even expert
gemologists, those who specializes in gemstone identification, can’t even tell the difference
with the naked eye.
